FACE AIDS Fall Conference 2011: Building A Movement

October 13 to 16, 2011
Stanford University — Stanford, California

The theme Building A Movement refers to looking at HIV/AIDS in the context of scientific and social movements, as well as the larger movement for global health equity. The 2011 conference explored how FACE AIDS fits into this broader movement and how students can contribute and be active change-makers. The conference featured both inspirational keynote addresses and chapter development workshops to illuminate the importance of social movements and the role youth play in social movements. Attendees were able to gain skills and make new personal and professional connections to become more effective members of the global movement for health equity.

Highlights included:

  • A keynote by Dr. Paul Farmer, co-founder of Partners In Health
  • A kickoff to the 2011 FACE AIDS "Adopt a Health Center" Campaign
  • The return of Professional Speed Dating!
  • An update on the FACE AIDS Rwanda chapters
  • Chapter Building Workshops to help your chapter have its best year yet!
