The One Who Speaks

Black Box Theatre, Brodie Hall, SUNY Geneseo
FACE AIDS Geneseo is collaborating with the college's theatre department to produce an original play by Geneseo grad and past FACE AIDS President Emily Hurley. The play, a monologue featuring background dance and rhythm, tells the deeply moving true story of Ugandan AIDS victim Olivia Nantongo, featured in the documentary film A Closer Walk. Emily worked with the film's director and those who knew the real Olivia to construct an incredible production to be used as a creative, personal form of AIDS activism.
The play will be performed as part of World AIDS Week, with Candace Hairston, Phara Souffrant, and Candace Walton sharing the role of Olivia. The performance is free, but donations are greatly appreciated!

The Red Scarf Project
December 09, 2008 - 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm
SUNY Geneseo
This is our second year working with Rochester's AIDS Community Health Center (ACHC) on their Red Scarf Project fundraiser. ACHC collects red scarves, handcrafted and donated by local clubs and organizations, and sells them during the holiday season to raise funds for AIDS treatment and care right here in Rochester. Geneseo's chapter of FACE AIDS takes several dozen scarves to sell during events and regular tabling - the scarves are a great gift idea!
Look for us in Milne Library in the evenings and the College Union during the day. Scarves cost $5-$15.
